Rite Aid Shopping Scenarios for the week of 12/18!

Here’s everything you need to know about shopping at Rite Aid:
Before shopping at Rite Aid you should sign up for a Wellness card or get one in your store.  The best deals at Rite Aid utilize the +Up Rewards and the Single Check Rebate (SCR) system.   In addition to the +Up Rewards, which are coupons that print with your receipt (similar to CVS), Rite Aid sends you a monthly check for the total of all your rebates purchased during that month with the SCR program.  You can cash the check as you would any other check.  In addition to the +Up Rewards and the SCR program, you can watch videos on products and receive Video Value coupons.  These coupons can be printed from your computer after you watch the corresponding videos. You can use each coupon once per Wellness card.

Disney Movie Rewards: Add 10 More Points

Currently, you can add 10 more points to your Disney Movie Rewards account! Just head on over here and login to your account, then enter the code DOC561026 to score your points! That’s it!
If you haven’t joined Disney Movie Rewards yet, then I would highly suggest doing so now! This is a great rewards program… especially if you have kiddos that love Disney movies. Basically every time you purchase a Disney DVD or go see a Disney movie at the movie theater you earn points. Once you’ve earned enough points, you can then redeem them for a reward. They have a lot of different rewards available from electronics to toys, DVDs, occasional gift cards, and more!

It is simply amazing how many absolutely free things you can get every week!  To keep you up to date with all the free deals, I am going to publish a post every Sunday outlining the freebies and moneymakers.  Of course, free deals are extremely popular so you may run in to times that the shelves are empty.  Don’t forget to get a rain check when that happens.  I love rain checks because then I never have to miss out on a free deal! Also, ask your store when they restock, and plan to shop that day if you miss the deals earlier in the week!

{Recipe} Lasagna Soup

Ok, I love lasagna, but I hate  actually making lasagna. It’s a pretty labor intensive meal. So I just found this this lasagna soup recipe and thought it was the perfect compromise. All the flavor and texture of lasagna but without all of the work!
This soup looks AMAZING, I can't wait to try it!!!! If you get to try it before me, come back and let me know how you like it!

Lasagna Soup
printed from melskitchencafe.com
*Serves 4

INGREDIENTS
Soup:
1 1/2 pounds Italian sausage
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed through a garlic press
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 (28-ounce) can fire roasted diced tomatoes, undrained
2 bay leaves
6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil or 2 tablespoons dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 pound fusilli noodles, cooked and drained
Cheese topping:
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil or 1 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, for sprinkling

DIRECTIONS:
In a large 4-quart pot, add the Italian sausage and cook over medium heat, breaking the pieces up with a wooden spoon or spatula while it cooks. After about 3-4 minutes, add the onion. Cook the sausage and onion together, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is cooked through and the onions are soft,a bout 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease, if desired. Stir in the garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes and tomato paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the diced tomatoes with their juices, bay leaves and chicken broth. Add the basil, if using dried (if using fresh basil, add it in the next step).
Bring the soup to a boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste and the fresh basil, if using.
For the cheese mixture, in a small bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and basil. Set aside.
To serve the soup, add a scoop of cooked pasta noodles to a bowl. Top with a ladle or two of soup and dollop with a generous spoonful of the cheese mixture. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Serve immediately.
