FYI: $5/1 Kingsford Charcoal Coupon From Yesterday!

If you printed this $5/1 Kingsford Charcoal coupon that was available on coupons.com yesterday I wanted to post this heads up..

This morning Kingsford Charcoal post this on their Facebook page “We apologize about the confusion for the earlier coupons. They were unsolicited and not covered by us.”.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of people up in arms about this. I, for one, certainly do not think this is a coupons.com issue, but a Kingsford Charcoal issue. Last week it was the Brita rebate fiasco (owned by the same company as Kingsford) and this week it’s the Kingsford Charcoal coupon.

Anyway, if you printed this coupon just be aware that there are currently some issues with it. Last week Brita backed down from their claims of not honoring the Brita rebates after their Facebook page was slammed with lots of comments from people voicing their displeasure. Maybe they’ll back down on these recent claims about this Kingsford coupon as well, who knows.

I seriously doubt that coupons.com would release coupons for Kingsford charcoal that were “Unsolicited” by Kingsford.

JCPenney Permanently Marking Down Prices 40%!

Have you shopped in JCPenney lately?  I went in there this week and noticed the prices on the tags were a little funky but I didn't think that much of it.  I just now came across this news article that says that JCPenney will be permanently marking down prices on ALL of it’s merchandise at least 40%!   Have you noticed it?

Here’s a small part of the article..

“NEW YORK (AP) — J.C. Penney is permanently marking down all of its merchandise by at least 40 percent so shoppers will no longer have to wait for a sale to get the lowest prices in its stores.

Penney said Wednesday that it is getting rid of the hundreds of sales it offers each year in favor of a simpler approach to pricing. On Feb. 1, the retailer is rolling out a three-tiered strategy that offers “Every Day” low pricing daily, “Month-Long Value” discounts on select merchandise each month and clearance deals called “Best Prices” during the first and the third Friday of every month when many shoppers get paid.
The plan, the first major move by former Apple executive Ron Johnson since he became Penney’s CEO in November, is similar to Wal-Mart’s iconic everyday low pricing strategy. The difference is that Penney’s goal isn’t to undercut competitors, but rather to offer customers more predictable pricing.”

I personally received this email today and it has a unique $5 code where I can request a $5 check in the mail. Woo Hoo!  If you are signed up to receive Magazines.com emails, then you may have gotten this same email… an email that you may have trashed thinking it was junk. So search this email address service@email.magazines.com to see if any emails pop up. Make sure to look in your trash and spam. The subject line of the email is “Thank You! Your gift is enclosed.” Basically the email will provide you with a unique code to score a $5 discount on your purchases! Even sweeter, in the fine print it states “Your promotional code has cash value”. This means that you can actually request a check in the mail! Just head on over here, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and fill out the form with your mailing info and gift card number. A $5 check will be mailed to the address you provide within 4-6 weeks.
